Dexter - blood spatter inspiration.

Recently I have been watching the TV show "Dexter". This show is about a man named Dexter Morgan who works as a blood spatter pattern analyst during the day but at night he's the one creating his own blood spatter patterns as he is a secret serial killer.

It sounds rather weird but when I am watching the show I find myself being inspired by all the blood spatter patterns so I thought I would put it on my blog as its related to my designs.

Montage.

Inspired by Neasden control centre I have decided to try out doing some of my own montage compositions.
These designs could potentially be a start to my wall art/ mural/ wallpaper.

Contemporary wall art and murals.

I have been thinking a lot about my final major project and what I want all of my final products to be so I have come to the conclusion that at my show I would like to have :

  • 3 helmets
  • 3 painted leather jackets.
  • wall paper/ wall art/ wall murals
  • selection of small badges.
  • vinyl stickers.
I will probably change my mind at some point though!

Here are some contemporary wall murals that I am inspired by:

Painted Leather.

I have decided that for my final major project I am not only going to be doing designs for helmets but I will also be painting designs onto leather jackets, fitting in with the grunge biker theme.
I am going to have to try very hard when painting as I haven't painted for a very long time as my preferred method of designing is drawing.
Here is a website of painted leather products that has inspired me and some images from this website below : http://www.paintedleatherjackets.com/

Monoprinting - Tracey Emin

I really like monoprinting, how a design instantly has texture once the ink has dried.
I have decided to try out some monoprinting as i want to create new textures for my designs
Here are some mono-prints by well know artist Tracey Emin.

Black and white designs.

Inspired by Miwa Matreyek I have created some designs that are black and white.

I have added a little blue bird to one of my "Tree head" designs and I quite like that little splash of colour however it also looks nice just black and white.

Colour Palette inspiration - Ford fiesta.

I saw the new Ford fiesta advert and was really inspired by all the beautiful vibrant colours on a background of black. I particularly liked the shades of purple and blue as they really stood out to me and I think this may influence my designs.

Miwa Matreyek.

I am very inspired by the animated short films that animator, designer, and multi media artist Miwa Matreyek creates. I love the vibrancy of the colours on the black backgrounds and also how everything flows together, like a good design.I also really like just the simple black and white parts of the animation too.

"Matreyek is interested in how animation transforms when it is combined with body and space (and vice-versa) and takes on a more physical and present quality, while body and space take on a more fantastical quality.

On one hand, Matreyek's performance can be viewed as a cinematic experience taking place on a screen. On the other hand, what is seen on the screen is a collapsed product of multiple layers of animation, objects and body, rhythmically unfolding. Her work exists in a juxtaposition of illusion and non-illusion."

Neasden control centre.

I have come across "Neasden control centre", a London studio by illustrator Stephen smith and I find his work very inspiring!
